"For a long time the data road in our office was paved with great intentions to back up our information. When our
server crashed we found our backup system dismal. SBOS came to the rescue and has provided an easy and affordable solution that
gives us total peace of mind with our data files. We now spend time doing our jobs without worrying about data loss or security
issues."
-- Heather Pemberton, Office Manager, Samsel Architects
What kind of files can be backed up?
Any files on your computer, including but not limited to: E-mail (Outlook, Outlook Express, etc), photos, internet favorites, iTunes
music, MS Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Quicken, Quickbooks, Any Databases ( such as ACT, SQL, Access, etc), Exchange Server,
Web Server, and more! As well as you may select which files you do or do not want backed up.
Are my data files secure after they are backed up with this service?
Yes, 100% secure! SBOS uses double 192-bit AES encryption to encode your data files before they leave your computer, and they remain encoded
while stored on our servers. Using "brute-force" technology and super powerful computers, it would take literally millions of years
to crack double 192-bit encryption.
Will anybody have access to my data while stored on SBOS servers?
No! The manner in which your data files are stored, nobody, not even SBOS personnel, can open them as they sit on the SBOS servers.
Why should I backup my business data files?
Like most businesses, your data is crucial to the daily operation of your company. If all your business data were suddenly and
completely gone, no doubt it would have a serious negative impact on the ability of your business to continue to operate. In addition,
the cost of data recovery is exorbitant and not always successful.
Why should I use an online backup when I have an on-site backup?
A reliable on-site backup is essential and in fact is part of our backup strategy, but it is not enough. Most on-site backup are
processes are unmanaged and some use backup methods that are antiquated and unreliable. More importantly, anything that would destroy your
live data would also destroy your on-site backup.
Is the pricing based on each computer to be backed up?
No - pricing is for the total amount of data being backed up. It can be on 1 computer or many computers.
How much does it cost to setup the service?
Setup is Free.
Why does it need to be managed?
All kinds of things can go wrong with internet technology, even as awesome as it is. Our automatic process is setup to be as secure and
infallible as possible, but no one can guarantee that every other part of the process is not encountering a temporary problem at any given
moment. So, SBOS manages the backup process to ensure its successful completeion.
Why should I use a managed backup service when Carbonite and Mozy are less
expensive?
Our philosophy is to leave nothing to chance when safeguarding your business data. Carbonite and Mozy are unmanaged, and while they
may be fine for residential use, they are not appropriate for business data. It even says so in their Terms of Service. And, their "Pro" versions
are not managed and are more expensive than SBOS. With SBOS, an actual qualified human makes sure your online backup process completes successfully
and consistently.
How many servers does SBOS use to store my data?
Two… one backs up the other. Both are located in Buncombe County, North Carolina in different secure locations miles apart.
Is this the same as "Cloud" backup ?
No. Our servers are located in Asheville, North Carolina and are our property and we manage the security and maintenance for
them.
What happens if there is ever a problem and my backup fails?
The backup software on our servers notifies our agents if the backup process does not complete, and why it did not complete. If the
source of the problem is at your location, depending on the problem an agent may notify you immediatly via e-mail. If no reply is received within one day, you will be contacted by telephone.
What can cause my backup not to complete?
A failure at your location will most likely occur due to a temporary issue, such as someone turns off the computer or leaves
programs running. The most common problems do not occur at your location and are usually temporary internet or electrical outages
between your location and the SBOS servers. These issues are temporary and are usually repaired within the span of 1 or 2 days at
the most.
How do we recover our data if it is lost?
Contact us and an agent will use the backup software to implement the integrated data recovery process, free of charge.
I'm not a geek... so, how does the whole thing work?
Our service is designed to backup all your data files on all your computers at your location, and/or multiple locations. A
small software program is installed that does all the work quietly in the background and is responsible for sending the data at a
scheduled time once every day (or more or less often). Unbreakable encryption is used to encode the data files before they
leave your location. While in transit to our alpha server, the encrypted data uses a hyper-secure encrypted internet connection.
After your data has been received and stored in its encrypted format, it is then copied to our beta server through a different
hyper-secure encrypted internet connection. Our alpha and beta servers are located in different secure locations, miles apart, for
an extra level of security and to ensure your data is never lost.
